A First For Us!

Last Saturday, our friends at the Series 2 club met at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby, this wasn't just your normal everyday meet though.

The Series 2 club are currently holding a nationwide challenge to circulate a Series 2 bonnet through each area of the club while raising money for the charity 'Children in Need'. By chance, this particular meet was only a few miles up the road from our premises! So the plan was formed, the club would enjoy their time at the aviation centre and then convoy down for an open afternoon at Emberton Imperial.

Being a bit "in the middle of nowhere" and being an online business, this isn't something we had done before, we weren't sure what to expect. The warehouse was prepped, the snacks were laid out, and there we sat, awaiting the arrival of an unknown number of guests. Suddenly, a low grumble could be heard weaving its way down the farm track. "Well at least someone's turned up!" we joked as we head out to the yard. To our surprise, the aforementioned "convoy" of Series 2's appear round the corner, one after the other, all with their own personal touches and equally distinctive drivers and passengers!

As the visitors kept rolling in we quickly realised that the space designated to host our guests wasn't quite big enough! A swift reshuffle and everyone squeezed in to our goods in area, usually reserved for pallets and cardboard boxes, the area was now alive with the vibrant chatter of enthusiasts. In between the chats, show and tell, questions and the unexpected (but very much appreciated) orders, we did manage to pop out to have a look round our yard now flooded with distinctive Series 2's and a standalone (and rather cool) Morris!

Saturday was certainly a first for us, and we want to thank everyone who took the time to come and visit. There were certainly some familiar faces and some new ones, but everyone was equally like-minded, friendly and enthusiastic! Any event to benefit charity is great, but their idea to circulate this bonnet around the UK is suitably wacky and fits right in with our slightly unhinged (pun intended) humour! Of course we had to make a donation to their cause and we wish them the best of luck going forward with their challenge!
